Archival Research and Collections Management

Hess Roise has conducted research on a wide array of subjects for a diverse spectrum of clients. We’ve analyzed nineteenth-century surveyors’ records for an American Indian court case. We’ve tracked down comic strips for a major motion picture studio. We’ve helped a corporation analyze and organize a collection of promotional materials relating to an advertising symbol. When out-of-state scholars want information from local archives—but don’t want to travel to Minnesota—they hire us to collect the material.

Examples of archival research subjects include:

  • Reddy Kilowatt
  • "Peanuts" comic strips
  • The Lindbergh family
  • Theodore Roosevelt
  • Timber surveys
  • Concrete shell construction
  • Turn-of-the-century commercial laundries in Seattle
  • Early twentieth-century construction camps for hydroelectric projects in Michigan
