The company dates to 1977 when Jeffrey Hess established in Minneapolis one of the countrys first full-time historical consulting practices. Charlene Roise became a partner in the firm in March 1990, and the business was reorganized as Hess, Roise and Company, a Minnesota corporation. In January 1996, Ms. Roise became the majority shareholder, qualifying the firm as a woman-owned business. She became president of the company in the following year when Mr. Hess retired. Marjorie Pearson, Ph.D., who joined the firm in 1999, became a principal and vice president in 2001. Hess Roise is located in the Foster House, an 1880s hotel renovated into office space in 1996. The building is in the historic warehouse district in downtown Minneapolis, a block from the Hennepin Avenue Bridge over the Mississippi River. |
