Not everything can be preserved. Documentation studies record a property’s physical and historic characteristics to exacting standards, saving information about the property even if it is demolished or substantially altered. There are several documentation formats including:

Documentation projects have brought Hess Roise to some interesting places including an abandoned steam engine house, an active sewage treatment facility, a long-vacant meatpacking plant, and the Omaha stockyards. We have also worked on hydroelectric plants and dams, bridges, commercial and residential buildings, farms, a North Woods resort, and the Air Force’s Project Looking Glass.
